5 out of 5 stars Nice little money saver   May 16, 2010

Bought this to avoid paying £21 for the apple version. This is a lovely product, well made, well packaged and excellent build quality. The mini display port end comes with a nice plastic cover to keep the connection clean, a nice touch. Even comes in a nice plastic bag that has a clip seal which I'm going to store it in when not in use. Connected up to my LCD monitor with a DVI-D cable and it just works, picture quality is superb. Using it to extend my desktop when running multiple applications or to use with photos to provide a bigger screen. I've also ordered a 5m DVI to HDMI lead from another company on Amazon marketplace, will use that to connect to HDTV without the need to also buy a mini display port to HMDI connection. Seeing as mini display port doesn't carry sound anyway you get no advantage using mini display to HDMI, this is cheaper and you can just buy two cables if you need to connect to DVI and HDMI devices. Item was also delivered promptly.

5 out of 5 stars IMPORTANT ::: Make sure your MAC has Mini DVI and not Mini DisplayPort !!!, 27 Nov 2009   May 12, 2010

PLEASE NOTE :: " Mini DVI " is NOT the same as " Mini DisplayPort " !!! :::: Its is extremely common for folks to buy the wrong adapter and need to return or exchange despite the *** warnings *** in the product info above (I guess folks read reviews more than product info) ... so please read the following info and also the product info as it may help !!!

As it says in the product description ::: This "Mini DisplayPort" adapter is used to " Connect new generation Apple MacBook, MacBook Pro and MacBook Air with Mini Displayport " . This is for newer generation Macs from late 2008 onwards such as the UNIBODY MacBook and MacBook Pro and AIR ... also the newer iMacs.

Most slightly older Macs (Including MacBook, MacBook Pro and Air ... UP TO late 2008) have a different, slightly bigger but similar looking port called " Mini DVI " and this is NOT the same as " Mini DisplayPort " ... and will not fit.

You can see a close up picture of the actual ports and adapter connection in the 'other' images at the top of the product listing :::: If you have an older Mac and require the Neet " Mini DVI to DVI adapter " it can be found here :: Neet® - Mini DVI to DVI adapter cable (Apple Mini DVI to full size DVI-D)

There are also a couple of other, less common adapters that Apple used briefly... one is called "Mini VGA" (found on older Macs) and another is called " Micro DVI " (found on the MacBook Air for one year only) ... these are far less common but still get confused. ( Even Apple can give the wrong advise (eg: telling customers that Mini VGA is Mini DVI but an older version so folks go looking for an older Mini DVI which does not exist ))

The bottom line is to be sure and check your port before buying ... and if in any doubt, please contact Neet Cables via ' contact seller ' on Amazon.

This Neet Mini DisplayPort to DVI adapter is plug & play, works very well and will be dispatched quickly with fast and friendly email customer support from Neet if needed ... but please check that you are buying the correct adapter first !

( Please kindly note ::: I work on customer support at Neet Cables and AMAZON suggested that this information be left as a 'review' due to excessive returns / exchanges as a result of folks buying the wrong adapter ... folks clearly read reviews more than the product info (which is very limited in characters anyway) so hopefully this will help save a lot of time and wasted postage costs for us all ! ... If you think it is helpful , please mark it as ' helpful ' so it stays at the top and will be seen... many thanks :)

3 out of 5 stars Great, but problems with VGA adapter   April 29, 2010

I bought this to try to save some money over the official Apple adapter, but in the end it really wasn't worth the hassle of having to make a separate order. It works great for DVI connections, and great with a DVI to HDMI cable into my TV, but when I had to connect it to a projector using a VGA connection it refused to work. I borrowed an official Apple adapter and using the same DVI->VGA connector it worked without any problems.

5 out of 5 stars VGI or ADC adapter   April 15, 2010
Rhodes Middleton (UK)
This cable saved me from having to buy a new monitor after updating my Mac Mini. Ridiculous to think my 4 year old Xerox monitor was redundant because of its old connection. Nobody, especially the Apple tech staff, could either correctly name the connector, nor tell me how I could continue to use the monitor.

I was about to give up when I recognised the plug configuration in the picture. After speaking to a staff member in an Apple store (who did not know this cable existed, they confirmed this was an ADC (Apple display connector), not a DVI plug.

Very grateful to Neet Cables for saving my lovely monitor from going into landfill. Lesson is:
1. Don't assume technical staff know what they're talking about
2. Don't take no for an answer
3. Investigate
4. Always expect to recycle
