There seems to be a lot of confusion of just what this does or doesn't work with. I have a mac mini 2.53 and a samsung monitor with a hdmi port. This cable just works. That's it. It works.
Exactly what was needed March 15, 2010
This is a great little product which was delivered promptly. It can't be faulted. You should, however: a) check whether you actually need a mini-displayport (there are plenty of warnings about this on this item's page); b) you'll need an audio cable as the Mini-DVI port doesn't carry sound and; c) make sure you have full HD movies to watch. Sounds a no brainer I know, but I was looking forward to watching full 1080p movies only to discover that the downloads I'd been buying were only 720p, also described as HD. But check out the full 1080p movies on your flatscreen - awesome.

I bought a macbook and wanted to watch films on my Phillip's tv. After a bit of research and double-checking the slots on my macbook I settled on this. Very reasonably priced and does exactly what it says. Note that you will need a separate cable for audio. I was aware of this and the product works perfectly. If you can't get the display up then turn off your mac, connect the cables, turn on the HDMI channel on your TV and then power up the mac.
