Product Description
This is a cable from HDMi to DVI or vice versa. This cable is made for connecting the two most used digital connectors, be aware that DVI only can transmit video signals and no sound. For example a DVD player, graphics card, Home cinema sets, LCD TV and PLASMA TV

5 out of 5 stars As Good As It Gets   May 10, 2010
Lee Lucas (Birmingham England)
Could not agree more with the reviews here, the cable does its job with a bargain price to boot. I wanted this from my PC to the TV and it works 100%. It's perhaps not the same build quality as a more expensive cable so perhaps 3 stars for the build quality, but certainly 5 stars here from me over all for doing the same job at a much lower price. Would I recommend it? Yes 100%.

5 out of 5 stars 5m HDMI - DVI cable   April 30, 2010

Simple and straightforward, the cable does its job at a reasonable price.

Displays the computer on the TV, so whatever was on the monitor shows on the TV.

Fast delivery.

No problems at all.

5 out of 5 stars Excellent value cable   April 26, 2010

I bought this cable to connect between my MacBook Pro and LCD TV and it works perfectly well. I prefer to connect the MacBook to the TV using this over a VGA cable, with the attendant screw fixings associated with the VGA plug at the TV end. Be aware that the computer end requires an Apple minidisplay port to DVI adapter though, which I already had in order to connect to other displays. I took the configuration of the adapter into account when selecting the cable, as there are so many to choose from. The cable is very good quality and excellent value given the 5m length.

5 out of 5 stars Top quality and great value   April 12, 2010

The quality of the picture coming from my PC to my TV is exceptional using this cable. I have had no problem using this and I'm really happy with the quality.

5 out of 5 stars Excellent value for money, if you're sure it'll work with your equipment   March 25, 2010

I bought this cable 2 weeks ago to link my Dell Dimension 5150 PC to my Sony Bravia TV. The cable does exactly what it should and the picture quality is great.

If you do want to link your PC to HD TV via DVI to HDMI cable, then please be aware of the following:

a) If you are using a Nvidia Geoforce Graphics Card (mine was a XFX Geoforce 8400 GS) you can get audio over the cable, but there must be an internal (2 pin) S-PDIF cable between the graphics card and your PC's motherboard or sound card. If your motherboard (or sound card) doesn't have a 2 pin S-PDIF output (like on my PC) then you can't link them up. The problem is that the Nvidia graphics cards still send a 'blank' audio signal out of the DVI port. This then stops the TV accepting a separate sound source, such as from a 3.5mm jack cable between the PC and TV (ie the DVI to HDMI cable carries the picture and 3.5mm jack cable caries the sound). There was no way around this problem with the Nvidia card, so I invested in an ATI HD 4550 card as I had read that ATI include a sound card on-board their graphics cards. Ah, if only it were that simple - see my next point!

b) If you are using an ATI HD 3xxx or HD 4xxx series graphics card that only has DVI out for HD signals (many cards now have a HDMI port) then the sound can be sent through the DVI output, but only if you have a special ATI DVI to HDMI dongle (you then need a HDMI to HDMI cable). This DVI to HDMI cable (or any others) just won't convert/carry the audio signal. Unfortunately the ATI Dongles are about a common as Hens' Teeth (I couldn't find any UK suppliers). However, unlike the Nvidia card, the ATI system does not send a 'blank' audio signal down the DVI to HDMI cable. So I could add the 3.5mm jack cable to carry the audio. Finally it works - Happy Days!

If you don't believe my points above then please feel free to waste many hours on Google to come to the same eventual conclusion.

In summary, this DVI to HDMI Cable is a great buy; just be sure that you know it will work with the combination of devices you want to use it with.
