5 out of 5 stars great product   March 4, 2010
Jack Barsby (cumbria, England)
i bought this product after reading the many review saying how bad the product was but thought i would take the risk so i bought it. i have to say that the free view plus box does everything it said it does. it is good to pause tv then fast forward through the adverts. the thing that i wad most concerned about was the noise issue that people had complained about and even though i have the free view box in my bedroom i can barely hear it over my telly. so far i have had no problems with the free view plus and i am really glad i took the risk of buying it.

5 out of 5 stars thompson freeview recorder   February 27, 2010

i have bought two of these-thompson 160gb freeview recorders, and had no problems, the only design fault is that the hard drive does not switch itself off when not in use like my other recorders do,so it whirrs away all the time.one other point that i do not think owners are aware of is that the thompson allocates about 40 percent of its disc space to top up,so if you are not going to subscribe to it go into set-up and switch it off, otherwise a fine machine for the money.

5 out of 5 stars Easy Freeview Recording   February 27, 2010

My father's previous box simply refused to power up. This extremely good value box arrived quickly and was not difficult to explain to him.

1 out of 5 stars Disappointed   February 6, 2010

As one of the other reviewers pointed out there are problems which can be sorted out. However, as soon as I sort one out (via tech forums or software updates) another one crops up. The first one was that every time I tried to rewind or fast forward progs, they would jump to the beginning or end of a prog. Also it randomly does not record progs or says they have been corrupted and removed.
The current problem is that the box freezes and crashes almost every time i delete a prog so I have to keep on switching off and rebooting, thereby wasting alot of time. I'm fed up with it. Waste of money.
