Product Description
One Touch Pause Live TV Pause Live TV puts you in absolute control. Once the recorder is turned on, a large built-in memory automatically starts recording the programme you are watching -- allowing you to pause, replay or save the programme, any time. If you need to take a break, you can pause your 'live' TV programme with just one touch of a button, and resume watching when it suits you. 2 digital tuners Instead of the usual single digital tuner found in most set-top boxes, 2 digital tuners are included in this product to allow dual reception of your local TV programmes. No more choices to be made on which programme to miss any more! Simply record both programmes on different channels broadcast at the same time. Or while watching one show, record the other one. Digital video output SCART is an analogue connection to your TV, and signals are lost between digital to analogue video conversion. The HDMI connection allows you to connect this product to your TVs, sending the standard-definition data in digital format for your TV to enhance the signals, giving you a much better picture quality. FlexTime With FlexTime you can watch a programme while it's still being recorded, thanks to the extreme speed of a Hard Disk. You can also watch a different programme from the Hard Disk while it's recording something else. Instant Replay With Instant Replay, you can relive magic movie moments and super sports scenes - any time you want. At the touch of a button, the hard disk will replay the last 30 seconds. Skipping further backwards requires nothing more than pressing the button again. USB Playback Simply plug your device into the USB port on your set top box. Your digital music and photos will be played directly from the device. Now you can share your favourite moments with family and friends.

5 out of 5 stars Philips DTR   June 16, 2010

Great product, slightly slow to respond to the remote bt it is worth it because the menus are easy to navigate. It has single button record and series link.
Glad I got it in time for the World Cup.

1 out of 5 stars Apalling Box.   June 3, 2010
Louise Killeby (Bedford, England)
This box is dreadful. The reproduction of the signal digital signal is pretty good but unfortunately the software needs an update as it freezes a lot and is slow to respond to commands from the controller. Also, it cannot keep up with quick flicking between channels and I have had to take the power out and put it back in multiple times because it just cannot cope with the demands of the user.

It looks great, the espn card slot works well, and records very well but when it it does record programs, it does not list the program you have recorded rather just the channel and the date you recorded. This means you have to select it using the already painfully slow controller to see what it is that you recorded.

The menus do not look good and are in grim colours also. The remote is too large, heavy and bulky.

The major fault is having two red buttons. One to record and another one to make selections in menus. They often perform the same function and seems like a bad design fault. The 8 day tv guide is also slow and often it will not let you record things in the future and seems to be a bit hit and miss. I'm sure there are better ones out there.

Generally I have been impressed with Philips products but this one was disssapointing. No dount they will rectify these problems and produce something that has the quality and functionality to go with the looks.
