There may be difficulty to receive Freeview TV signal by the included portable antenna in some areas where the signal is not sufficiently strong. This is due to that the Freeview service in the UK is not fully operating yet. The reception will be improving along with the progress of Digital Switchover Program. A signal amplifier or booster may improve reception in regions where the signal is marginally strong. (please note that reception capability may also be affected by various factors such as proximity to Freeview TV/digital radio transmitters, tall building structures, thick walls, ceilings & etc.). A rooftop TV aerial may be required to receive Freeview in regions where the signal is insufficient for a portable antenna.

3 out of 5 stars August DVB-T205 TV stick   March 2, 2010

The quality of the picture on this TV stick is not as good as the one I used to run on my Windows XP PC. It is only for occasional use on my PC which is now running Windows 7 so it is good enough for what I want.

4 out of 5 stars laptop tv   February 26, 2010

Very pleased with this, great sound and picture on my laptop using Vista, straightforward set-up using instructions provided, you're more on your own once installed but the controls are largely common sense. The plug in receiver is conveniently small (memory stick size) so might be easily lost and the remote is also small but easy to use.

As the instructions recommend, I first tuned in using an external aerial at home and got perfect reception watching a great picture in perfect sync. with cable on my tv.

Work was a different matter, the transmitter supplying that area is the same as home (I'm not sure if that might be an issue for tuning when moving around the country) but the supplied aerial is useless (hence four stars). It's not the best reception area so I already had an aerial with a booster which works ok although varies between channels and does require some shifting around. The picture is very good although on lower or fluctuating signals sometimes freezes although strangely the sound doesn't. This isn't the fault of the receiver and you can check the signal in your area via the freeview site http://www.ukfree.tv/txlist.php which will tell you the signal quality and if there are faults.

5 out of 5 stars Excellent product, better than expected.   February 21, 2010

I was a little concerned that I would have problems having read some other reviews. I needn't have worried and I wonder what other buyers have been doing to get poor results. I wanted this to be able to watch TV while working at the computer.

The device is very small and the installation manual is actually very good for such a product. My advice - READ THE MANUAL and note what it says about aerials! This device is only going to work on a good aerial so, if your TV has problems, so will this device. I'm running Windows 7 and I did not need the supplied drivers as W7 found them automatically from the Internet and installed the divice perfectly. After installing the TotalMedia software, it took a while to tune as the tuning is very slow compared to a STB but, once done, it worked perfectly. Use the LCN option when tuning and then sort by LCN to give the same channel numbers as a STB or TV would.

Quality is excellent, even on my 1920 x 1024 monitor so I'm extremely pleased and would recommend this product to anybody. Please note: Don't buy this or any other similar device if you want TV on the move. Throw the supplied aerial away!

what they forget to tell you is that 95% of all usb tv sticks need a internet connection for them to work !
You can not reg the product on which pc you use it on unless that pc has a internet connection & if you dont reg the product
then you dont get to use the product.

5 out of 5 stars Perfect for my needs..   February 7, 2010

Having read the reviews of this tv tuner, I knew that it probably wouldn't work on the supplied aerial, so I wasn't surprised or disappointed by that. I really wanted the means to record a few films/tv programmes to the hard drive of my Samsung NC10 netbook for entertainment when away from home. In that regard, I have found this tv tuner to be really excelllent. I installed it, it found all the channels through my home aerial and I was recording a programme within just a few minutes. I now have a nice selection of things recorded that I can watch whenever I like. Just the job.
