3 out of 5 stars Good idea but....   May 29, 2009

For some reasson only 10gb of the 160gb hard drive is available for transfering video from usb to Hdd, very annoying, support is laughable.

Not very intuative menus. When turning unit only a
" hdd loading, please wait message"
appears, sometimes a few seconds sometimes 5 mins or until I am bored and turn it off to try again.

If only it did what it says on the tin

3 out of 5 stars Could have been great   January 7, 2009

This could have been a super combi product but the functionality of the Freeview and recording facilities is very poor and so its very frustrating to use in practice (a TVonics DTR Z250 or Z500 Freeview+ box and a regular TV work much better). By way of illustration, below is an extract of e-mail correspondence between myself and the UK DMTECH support team to which I have still not had a reply..........

"Hi there

I have a few questions/observations listed below which I would like you help with please with regard to the DMTECH LV20HF.

It's a great product in concept but its functionality seems to be letting it down rather a lot.
1. It appears that I cannot watch the DVT channels and record at the same time i.e. if I'm recording E4 I also have to watch E4 on the DVT and when a recording begins the channel being watched switches to the channel to be recorded.

2. A recorded programme is (around 30-40% of the time) given the name of the prior program (e.g. "Strictly Come Dancing" gets named "Casualty" or "Egg Heads" in the file list).

3. The "recording" symbol and timer cannot be removed the screen. So you may be recording E4 on the "DVT" and watching BBC1 on the "TV" but have the large "recording" symbol and timer sat in the bottom left hand side of the screen

4. The EPG is very slow to move up/down and forward to show TV schedules. It also insists upon switching to each program when you're just paging up and down through the EPG - which slows things down further.

5. The f/fwd and r/wind facility when watching a recorded DVT program is poor as it does not tell you how far you are into the program (i.e. if you stop at 45mins in and you want to get back to 45mins in there is nothing in the display to help).

Hopefully, some of these problems will be resolved with a software update ? (as I have a couple of other Freeview+ boxes which do not suffer from the above issues)"

5 out of 5 stars Stylish and impressive   July 31, 2008

I was impressed by this TV from the time I took it out of the box. It is stylish,in piano black, and easy to set up,just plug in the separate power 'brick' and aerial cable and follow the on screen instructions. After a few presses of the stylish remote it first tunes in the 5 standard channels, then the digital. It picked them all up plus some more distant ones which were sorted out of the line up.
There is one HDMI,scart(fully wired)computer(VGA),component, audio and digital audio on the back of the tv and on the side another component,s video, headphone and USB.
The usb can be used to transfer files between the hard drive and flash drive etc (Fat 32). WMA music files are recognised and can be stored. Pictures and video can also be stored via the USB. Live TV can also be paused etc via the hard drive and resumed similar to the Sky plus system.
There are several picture and audio modes along with a graphic equalizer. It is wall mountable and was easily mounted in the kitchen. (Bracket supplied by Amazon for free) The only down side is that a small part of the stand tube is left when this is done. A small cover is supplied to blank it off.
Channels are changed with ease using the remote.
Would I buy another.
Yes I already have for the bedroom.
All in all I think this an ideal TV for a second room and excellent value.
